This weekend lots of headway was made on the cabinets. I have three uppers and the microwave built-in is finished as well.
Most of the interior electricity is finished too. I decided against using the original spot lights. The paint was too deep and the finish much to marred for cleaning. I picked up a couple of sconce lights at Lowe's (trip #3,444,098,333) for about $10 each.
I started staining the cabinet doors. We decided at the end of the week that with all this fresh wood stain would look nicer than paint.
My poor kitchen is a disaster. From left to right we have:
A plunge router (countertops), latex gloves (paint removal), never-dull (aluminum polishing), riveter and rivets (for riveting), clear laquer (cabinet doors), screen (re-doing windows), and various stains. It is a dangerous place to be these days!
This is the story of our renovation of a late 60's early 70's Shasta Camper Trailer. It's lots of fun and we cannot wait to go camping!

He's a Hard Workin Man
All this week Jeff has come home from work and put another 3-4 hours into the trailer each night. The results are really starting to pay off. My kitchen looks very kitchen like and the beds/couches are now sturdy enough to lay down on and want to take a nap.
On other fronts, I have changed my mind on the interior. His woodworking is so nice and the birch sooo pretty that I've decided to stain the interior versus painting. I mean since we went to the trouble to replace every inch of wall and ceiling why paint over the beautiful wood?

I Can See Clearly Now....The Windows Are Gone!!!
This week's adventures finds our heroine (me) trying to source a tiny little "U" channel of seal that holds the windows inside of their aluminum frame for the jalousie windows. I have been to all the local hardware stores and both big box stores. I'm going to attempt the local mobile home supply tomorrow and if that doesn't pan out I'll be doing some Georgia Engineering.

Kitchen Counters
The problem with renovations over restorations is that all the design flaws are yours. We spent a good bit of time tonight on where to put the sink and cooktop.
So I've nearly worn out this sink sliding it around to find that perfect spot. Finally I settle on the middle of the window.
The sink cutting went off without any issues. I attribute this to my excellent ability to keep up with product installation instructions.
I'm attempting to blog on my husband's not so smart phone so who knows how this will turn out.
Weeknight Cabinetry
Now that we are mostly "dried in" work can continue through the week. Last night was a continuation of building cabinets and frames for cabinets.
Our new layout is different from the original. We were missing several things from our Shasta so a renovation is our path versus a restoration. This is nice because we can take some liberties with the layout and design.
This new layout allows for more people to eat or socialize around the table.
