Improvements Since the Maiden Voyage

The first camping trip was a nice trip, but there were things we still needed to do.  One of these items was to replace the light above the sink.  It was the only fixture that was original to the trailer and it blew the circuit each and every time we tried to run electricity to it.  I found somthing very similar in style at Home Depot and other than a small stain job to cover the old footprint, it is great.

The tongue of the trailer needed to be cleaned off and the rust inhibited.  That was a really easy job and we found the vin# in another spot.

Sharona also got her Shasta nameplate back on.  Jeff had painted the entire thing black and then polished off the letters leaving the depressed areas black.  Looks super.

Her wings are ready but those haven't gone on yet because we had to pick up some bushings.

This weekend we camp at Skidaway Island in Savannah, GA which is only about 30 minutes from home.  I will post update photos on the next blog post.

Labor Day

We made it!  An estimated 500 hours of hard labor (by the husband) and we finally got to celebrate Labor Day with a weekend of rest.  We have not had a weekend free of Shasta renovation since June 5th.  On with the photos...

Red went on well

More red painting

Red is on, waiting for windows

Not the correct style for the year; however, I like this type of light and they look amazing.

Back window is in!

Another rear window shot

She's got a few love pats but everything under this skin is **better than new**

This is a photo of the sheet metal we used to cover the old fridge and water heater vents.  We will put travel stickers in this section.

Windows are in...aren't they great?

Awning material bought from Joann's on sale

Made a bunting for our friend who has a Shasta Compact

Making the awning I had to resort to reading up on seam directions in my sewing manual

Husband cut the scallops and I seamed them up with bias tape.  Turned out well.

Adding curtains

Made another bunting for my little girl to hang over her bunk bed

Curtains and cushions all sewn by your author...it's a good thing ;-)

This is the kitchen nearly finished.  We camped with it at this stage.  It will get aluminum trim for the front before the next trip.

This shot shows my awning.  It held together all weekend so I declare the awning project a success.

This spring produces 7 million gallons of water per day

The revised layout was a huge sucess!
The adult bed is big enough to call a king size bed and the bunk above is certainly large enough for two small girls.

Paint, Paint, Paint....Paint Your Booty

Two gallons of poly on the interior, a gallon of almond on the exterior, several teaspoons of stain from the previous posts still left on my skin and hair.

So Shiny

We painted behind the house in the section of the neighborhood that is not yet developed (thanks neighbors)

The patch covers the old vents for propane fridge and old water heater.  Now it will become our "where we have been" sticker board.

Back window back in place

Dark red wil be the accent color

Bought my "luggable loo" which is a porta potty that snaps on a 5 gallon bucket.
I also finished the cushions for one side.  They look ok, I wish they were tighter but I'm ok with my progress.

These are silver gray cushions.  I took the photo at night and it makes them look off-colored.
These vents are no longer operational but rather than fill the space with a non-descript plain patch we decided to cover the hole with a blank and then mount the previous vent to the top of the patch.  Keeps some of the original look.

This week we will be putting on the edge trim, painting (more), and dodging any incoming hurricanes.
